SnowSports Monitor & Children's Assistant

The SnowSports Monitor will serve as a general child care provider, indoor and on-snow activities organizer and representative of Sun Valley Resort.  He/She will work as a member of an interdependent team dedicated to creating the best possible environment for taking care of children before, during and after ski or snowboard lessons.  Monitors will work alongside instructors to provide an energetic, fun learning experience for our guests.


  • Recognize that service is our product and helping guests have a great vacation is our primary job.
  • Maintain a safe environment  for skier/snowboarders both in the Children’s Center and on-snow.
  • Greet and check in new and returning guests. 
  • Assists guest in a friendly, helpful and respectful manner.
  • Look after students of any age, sex  and learning ability, as assigned
  • Work on-snow with instructors escorting children to restrooms, helping children load carpets/lifts, assisting fallen children, etc.
  • Serve lunch to children.
  • Makes a continued effort to communicate with supervisors about the needs of the individual children. (i.e. colds, allergies, fears, etc.)
  • Makes continued effort to communicate needs of indoor programs. 
  • Finds opportunities to better serve the guests, SnowSports Department and Resort.
  • Serves as a public relations representative for Sun Valley Resort, both on and off the job.
  • Provides “little extras” to guests, such as giving directions and resort information.
  • Remembers that a smile and a friendly, helping hand can make a guest’s vacation.
  • LISTENS to guest needs.
  • Reads and complies with Sun Valley Employee Handbook and Ski/Snowboard procedures, including grooming, dress and behavioral standards.
  • Responsible for all information from memos, emails and meetings.
  • Appreciates that teamwork is essential for the success of the guest, SnowSports Department and Resort.  Demonstrates commitment to the team.

Special Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • Must enjoy work with people, especially children.
  • Must be adaptable and willing to learn, grow and improve. 
  • Must maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm on the job and be able to complete all duties in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Must be able to work long and irregular hours under stress, sometimes with difficult people, and maintain a cheerful, professional attitude. 
  • Must be able to work holidays and busy periods.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Skiing or snowboarding experience a benefit.
