The Senior Accountant Assists with the day to day accounting functions for Sun Valley Company and related entities. They apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports while performing the following duties:
Assist with establishing departmental standards, guidelines, objectives, and operations plans.
Maintain administrative processes such as budgeting and staffing to ensure proper planning, efficient operation of department, and the achievement of resort goals.
Maintain and enhance the guest focused culture in all areas of responsibility.
Effectively communicate with all levels of employees, guests, and all other outside contacts with professionalism.
Maintain a positive environment.
Delegate tasks, motivate, and lead direct reports to achieve goals and objectives.
Maintain schedules in compliance with regulations and authorities having jurisdiction.
Manage responsibilities in compliance with resort safety policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the month-end close process including monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and preparation of work papers in order to distribute financial information timely and accurately.
Assist with the preparation of month-end journal entries and reconciliations for assigned accounts.
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
Responsible for oversight of the resort cash office(s) and revenue audit functions.
Lead a staff of 7-9 to accomplish the duties of these functions as specified with a clear focus on internal control and customer service.
Assist operations managers by providing them with written and verbal accounting information regarding their department operations.
Assist in manual verification of physical inventories for resale.
Assist Controller to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
Assist the Director of Finance & Accounting and Controller with financial analyst duties & projects as assigned.
Perform other supervisory and non–supervisory accounting and non-accounting functions as directed by the supervisor.
This position is responsible for the supervision of the cash office & night audit team (7-9 employees) lead by the Cash Office/Audit Supervisor.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting from a four-year college or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in hospitality and/or snow sports resort setting is highly preferred, but not required.
Experience with a variety of Software Packages (AS400 Accounting Systems, Spread Sheet Server, Showcase Query, RTP, etc.
High level of experience and understanding of Microsoft Excel is required.
